  • Provide engineering design and analysis support to project teams, system designers, and engineers in making effective design concept selections, specifying products & technology, producing detailed designs, technical reports, analyses, drawings, and leading failure investigations.
  • Design products from initial concept stage through to production in a professional and time efficient manner. 
  • Produce 3-D CAD Models and Detail Drawings to provide solutions in accordance with clients’ requirements.
  • Create full general arrangement drawings (GAs) and detailing all the subcomponents for fabrication of the project.
  • Assist in the development of company design systems, standards and procedures.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience of design and drafting utilizing ANSI Y14.5 as well as experience in the design of mechanical components and systems. 
  • Strong technical knowledge in process vessels, tanks & package design.
  • Experience with applicable codes and standards.
  • Experience with MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Minimum 5 year's experience with AutoCAD / Solidworks.

  • Interface with clients and peers in groups such as Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to ensure that the implementation and qualification of equipment, systems and processes is conducted according to established quality standards through lifecycle management
  • Participate in the development of protocols and reports supporting the validation of equipment, systems, and processes
  • Provide validation support on project teams to ensure that pharmaceutical products are manufactured/packaged according to applicable regulations, organizational guidelines, and industry standards
  • Generation / execution of equipment and/or process validation protocols and reports, including  gap analysis of existing protocols against industry standards
  • Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
  • Provide general support to the Validation group to meet department goals and objectives
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or scientific discipline (e.g. chemistry, biochemistry). Equivalent experience may be accepted
  • 1-3 years relevant work experience
  • Working knowledge of utilities, cleaning validation concepts, and general production systems used in pharmaceutical manufacturing considered an asset
  • Experience qualifying equipment such as incubators and autoclaves considered an asset

  • Lead and manage the Document Control section; provide support to section staff as required
  • Lead the bidding and delivery of assignments within the section’s range of products and services
  • Ensure that assignments and document deliverables are delivered to time and budget and meet client expectations; minimise any overspends and delays to the client
  • Co-ordinate the utilisation of the section through the allocation of assignments and workload and by liaising with engineers or clients (as appropriate) on work required and timescales involved in order to maximise the section’s billable income
  • Support assignments managed outside the section bu with technical document deliverables by preparing estimates for support from Documentation Standards and managing input from the section
  • Acting as a focus for queries relating to technical documentation standards products and services, including becoming the Knowledge Manager for technical documentation
  • Education to degree level, or equivalent related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • An in-depth knowledge of technical documentation production and control, ideally within the rail industry, and of the software and tools used
  • Assignment allocator with good project management capability and ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Leadership skills – ability to lead small teams through complex assignments and ability to develop skills and expertise of individuals
  • Ability to assess assignment risks and how they can be managed (including technical, contractual and financial)

  • Work closely with Project Managers and Project Engineers to deliver design projects.
  • Delivery of workload to the timescales and deliverables agreed with project managers and project engineers, as well as reporting on progress against these to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Have an active contribution to the continuous improvement of the team’s design guides and practices, looking to raise issues where identified and adopting appropriate developments in technology and practices.
  • Help to develop junior members of the team from our technician and graduate schemes to enhance their competency and the range of skills that SNC-Lavalin offers to its clients.
  • Compliance of the applicable standards and ensure that design packages are delivered in line with these.
  • Build good working relationships with our specialists engineers to gain their input to design when required.
  • Provide impartial input to design projects as an independent checker, helping to ensure a consistent and high level of quality across all the work that we deliver.
  • Experienced in the delivery of railway (rolling stock) engineering design projects, either new build, retro-fitment, modification or refurbishment including the ability to understand the inputs required to support the development of a successful design, and the ability to produce designs which accommodate the product lifecycle (manufacture, install, test, operate, maintain, remove, dispose)
  • Qualified to degree standard or apprenticeship in a relevant discipline, or several years’ related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in the use of Solid Edge, our primary CAD package, or a comparable software package for both 3D modelling and 2D drafting purposes.

  • Lead all aspects of assignments undertaken for clients including estimating, tendering, planning and execution.
  • Act as a source of knowledge and guidance on technical areas within your own expertise, including design, system integration, interior refresh and refurbishment.
  • Work closely with team leaders, section head, the commercial team and others within the business to support both RSE and broader business objectives.
  • Support the continued development of people and processes within the RSE team, utilising your experience to bring new ideas and solutions.
  • Assist the Commercial team in targeting clients, as per pre assigned portfolios on the basis of developing continued and new business.
  • Chartered Engineer with a degree in a relevant discipline, or several years related experience and/or training.
  • Experience in delivering projects in the Rolling Stock domain from a consultancy, new build, maintenance or operating capacity.
  • APMP Qualified or working towards APMP Qualified status.
