User Experience (UX) Designer Intern

ABOUT USER EXPERIENCE (UX) DESIGNER INTERNS The teams within @WalmartLabs design, prototype and build technology-fueled products that bridge the gap between what's next and what's best. The User Experience Design Intern creates design comps and product specs for short-term projects with defined design guidelines, and supports lead designers on larger projects by documenting and participating in project definition activities. They support projects by communicating and collaborating with key business partners (Engineering, Site Merchandising); attending usability sessions; participating in iterative design process and brainstorming sessions; and presenting user experience flow and project decisions to discipline and user experience leadership. As an intern, you’ll have the responsibility to make a difference on a grand scale, working on code for millions of users and taking on other challenging projects. Education and Skills

 

A visionary that demonstrates up-to-date expertise in User Experience and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans.
Strong experience with AJAX, HTML, and CSS.
Understand that picking the right font or creating whitespace may be important, but a functional design is everything.
Have a strong enough design sensibility that you focus on behaviors and think about design systems, rather than relying on one-off, flashy effects.
Know that design standards can be used to solve customer problems, but that sometimes rules are meant to be broken when there's a better way to serve the customer.
Believe the web is made up of people.

Senior Software Engineer

Description


Enrich product data by using machine-learning algorithms to classify products, match products and extract attributes.
Work with product managers and business teams to understand the business problems and develop data-driven solutions
Apply up-to-date expertise in Software Engineering and Machine Learning techniques to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans
Work with large scale data systems in both online/streaming and offline/batch fashions
Troubleshoots business and production issues

Education and Skills

MS or PhD in Computer Science or related fields and 2 years of experience building multi-tier applications using open source technologies
Deep knowledge of machine learning, information retrieval, data mining, statistics, NLP or related fields and hands-on experience in building machine learning solutions.
Advanced ability to produce Java and Python code. Hands-on experience with machine learning libraries, such as scikit-learn, is preferred. Experience developing machine learning algorithms to solve business problems

Email HTML and Front-End Developer

Description


We are looking for a hybrid Front-End and HTML Email Developer who will be responsible for coding a steady volume of HTML email, and also has the ability to support front end development for SamsClub.com. In a typical week, the split will be ~80% email coding and 20% front end dev.

Responsibilities:
- Produce HTML email from design comps, ensuring exceptionally high quality. 
- Ensure rendering consistency of email campaigns across multiple clients and browsers. 
- Create optimized web pages from design comps.
- Update site content via CMS systems. 
- Work effectively with producers, designers, engineers, fellow developers, and other stakeholders.

Education and Skills
 

3-5 years experience in HTML5, JavaScript, CSS3, AJAX and related technologies in the context of interactive web applications and email.
- Mobile-first mindset and design/development approach.
- Strong understanding of responsive design/development techniques and principles.
- Experience writing hand-coded HTML email and hand-coded HTML and CSS for the web.
- Knowledge of HTML email rendering bugs and workarounds. 
- Experience debugging cross-browser/cross-platform compatibility issues.
- High attention to detail.
