Senior Financial Analyst

Description

• The Senior Financial Analyst is a key member of the Operations Planning and Control Team. This position provides support with an emphasis on driving Sony's major business initiatives.

Job responsibilities include: financial reporting, account analysis & reconciliations, month-end close activities, and task review.  Working as a liaison, directly supports the Business Planning Organization by: preparing and reviewing journal entries/reconciliations and determining financial impact and/or underlying transactions; making necessary recommendations; and providing meaningful/insightful reports to support the business.   The ability to identify weaknesses in processes and provide recommendations for process improvements is also a key part of the role. Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously as well as potentially leading projects.

Education and Skills

BS/BA degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics is preferred and a minimum of 4 years of related finance work experience.  In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of related finance work experience is acceptable
Must be able to initiate, prepare and review journal entries/reconciliations and understand the financial impact and/or underlying transactions
Must have an understanding of financial statements including profit and loss statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement
Must be able to prepare and interpret financial statements and make recommendations
Must have experience independently partnering with non-finance/accounting departments
Excellent working knowledge of financial systems (i.e. SAP,  Business Warehouse, Business Objects) is preferred
Regularly applying GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley standards in daily work is required
Must have a very strong working knowledge of Excel
Ability to prioritize duties, work independently in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision, and the ability to meet a variety of deadlines on diverse projects simultaneously is required
Must be very detail oriented, display excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate effectively with Internal and External customers / business partners
CPA or advanced degree preferred

Description

ony Electronics, Inc., currently has an opening for a Senior Applied Research Engineer in our U.S. Research Center located in San Jose, CA. This position is responsible for research and development in the area of image and video processing with emphasis on innovation for advancing the state of the art technology.  Focus includes development of novel video/signal processing algorithms with the goal of providing cost-effective and high visual quality solutions for Sony products.

As a Senior Applied Research Engineer, you will also be responsible for writing invention disclosures for developed algorithms, and working with patent attorneys to secure intellectual property.

Education and Skills

PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required
Two or more years of related experience is preferred
Strong research background and demonstrated record of innovation in the area of image and video processing, or computer vision is required
Knowledge of computer graphics, 3D modeling, depth-map generation, segmentation, in-painting, and white balancing techniques is highly desirable
